Refuzul de a crede veridicitatea creației în șase zile duce în mod necesar la respingerea afirmației că Legea celor zece porunci este inspirată de Dumnezeu. Această Lege pornește de la premisa că lumea a fost creată în șase zile, dar realitatea contrazice această afirmație. În conformitate cu Biblia, Dumnezeu nu poate minți:

Așa cum începe istorisirea biblică despre creație, în cartea Facerea, așa se și termină, în cartea Apocalipsa. Ambele viziuni sunt pline de contradicții, după cum vom vedea, și din această cauză ambele sunt incredibile. La prima vedere există o anumită potrivire între ele, dar această aparentă asemănare nu poate fi considerată o dovadă a coerenței lor sau a inspirației lor de către Dumnezeu, deoarece, analizând mai atent, se pot observa multe nepotriviri între elementele care le compun. Folosirea acelorași simboluri duce la impresia greșită că cele două cărți exprimă evenimente din trecut și din viitor care sunt în legătură unele cu celelalte.

    În concordanță cu cartea Facerea, Pământul la început ar fi fost „netocmit” sau  „pustiu și gol”, depinde ce versiune de traducere în limba română folosim. Biblia Ortodoxă folosește formula „netocmit” iar Biblia Cornilescu se referă la Pământ, în aceea perioadă, ca fiind „pustiu și gol”. De fapt, nici una din formulele folosite în limba romană nu traduce exact expresia originală „Tohu vav bohu”. În limba engleză traducerea este mult mai apropiată de textul original și anume este „formless void”. „Formless void” în limba romană se traduce cu formula „fără formă și pustiu”. De ce ar fi creat Dumnezeu Pământul inițial ca o grămadă de materie fără formă în loc să creeze o planetă organizată, gata să primească ființe vii? Cel puțin la prima vedere afirmația Bibliei nu are sens. Din acest motiv, încerc să răspund la această întrebare folosind soluțiile care sunt deja conturate în literatura religioasă.

Acesta este un principiu conform căruia singura autoritate în ceea ce privește religia creștină este Biblia. Biblia și numai Biblia. Este în același timp un principiu care a dovedit că are puterea de a submina religia creștină din temelii, odată cu avansul științelor moderne. Biblia nu explică corect creația universului și a omenirii și lucrul acesta se poate constata după o serioasă analiză a textelor ei. Pentru că există o confuzie majoră între existența lui Dumnezeu, o Realitate infinită, care nu poate fi cuprinsă în limitele înguste ale unor dogme și doctrine religioase, și textele biblice, multe dintre ele cu caracter mitologic, foarte multe persoane săvârșesc greșeala proverbială de „a arunca copilul o dată cu apa din baie”. O dată cu Biblia este negată și existența lui Dumnezeu, cu toate că cele două dimensiuni nu se confundă între ele.

Răul nu a intrat în lume la un anumit timp. Răul la fel ca și binele există dintotdeauna. Dumnezeu cunoaște binele și răul, după cum ne spune Biblia, rezultă că răul există în mintea lui Dumnezeu, împreună cu binele, din totdeauna. Dumnezeu nu a descoperit răul la un moment dat, pentru că El este veșnic și cunoașterea binelui și răului de către El nu poate fi decât tot veșnică. Dacă Dumnezeu este Atotștiutor, El nu a aflat ce înseamnă răul doar după revolta lui Satana. Dacă Satana ar fi inventat răul, fără ca Dumnezeu să anticipeze acest lucru, atunci El nu este Atotștiutor. Acest atribut divin care este atotștiința presupune și cunoașterea viitorului nu doar a trecutului și a prezentului.

Într-o formulare succintă, păcatul originar reprezintă starea în care au ajuns Adam și Eva din cauza neascultării de Dumnezeu, după ce au mâncat din pomul cunoștinței binelui și răului. Se vorbește despre natura decăzută a oamenilor care a fost moștenită de la primele ființe umane care au trăit pe Pământ. Dacă Adam și Eva nu au existat în realitate înseamnă că oamenii nu au moștenit nici un fel de natură decăzută și că ființele umane sunt ceea ce sunt, bune sau rele, în baza unei naturi proprii omului. Această natură umană este parte din întreaga natură care ne înconjoară și a apărut, prin evoluție, dintr-un strămoș comun al omului și al altor ființe vii.

În una dintre cele două povestiri ale creației din cartea Facerea, în capitolul 1, ni se spune că universul a fost creat de Dumnezeu în interiorul unei mase mari de apă, când încă nu exista cerul sau atmosfera Pământului. Numai în ziua a doua a creației apele ar fi fost separate și ar fi fost creat cerul, în conformitate cu textele biblice. O parte din ape ar fi rămas „deasupra” cerului și cealaltă parte ar fi acoperit Pământul. Dacă Biblia ar avea dreptate, o parte din ape ar fi încă „deasupra” cerului, desigur o expresia mitologică care nu are sens din punct de vedere științific. Ce ar putea să însemne „deasupra” cerului? „Deasupra” cerului ar însemna deasupra spațiului cosmic, undeva la periferia universului.

În lumea Creștină circulă o prejudecată nesănătoasă. Nu poți să fi un om săritor și generos decât dacă ești o persoană religioasă. Dacă nu ești credincios înseamnă că în mod automat ești un om păcătos și decăzut, nu contează cât ești de cumsecade. Acel om care nu are o conduită morală decât atunci când se află sub supravegherea unui supervizor divin și sub recompensa raiului sau amenințarea iadului, acel om nu este cu adevărat o ființă morală, chiar dacă anumite interese egoiste îl determină să adopte câteodată o conduită cu aspect moral. Conduita morală săvârșită de frică, din obligație sau din interes și nu dintr-o convingere personală, bazată pe propria conștiință, este o formă inferioară de comportament uman. Din acest motiv, așa zisa superioritate morală a oamenilor credincioși care se comportă omenește datorită faptului că se simt supravegheați de Dumnezeu, este o gogoriță.

În Creștinism, există câteva posibilități de interpretare care privesc relația dintre Dumnezeu și lume și de asemenea calitatea Lui de Creator. 

Punctul de vedere teist creaționist

Conform acestui punct de vedere, Dumnezeu este Creatorul a tot ce există. El a creat direct universul cu toate corpurile cerești și Pământul cu tot ceea ce conține acesta. Dumnezeu a creat toate aceste lucruri fie în șase zile calendaristice, conform adepților unui Pământ tânăr, fie în șase perioade lungi de timp, idee susținută de adepții teoriei zilelor-ere. Dumnezeu nu este răspunzător pentru răul din lume și tot răul vine de la îngerul decăzut Satana și de la oamenii care nu au ascultat de El.
